PiBoIdMo 2011 Is Coming!

Week of October 16—Finding Hooks to Inspire Your Books
Friday, October 21—PiBoIdMo 2011 Is Coming!

Generating ideas for writing still seems to be the thing that causes picture book writers the greatest struggle. That’s why I’m happy to endorse and support this year’s PiMoIdMo!

What is PiBoIdMo? Why, it’s Picture Book Idea Month!

Tired of novelists having all the fun in November with NaNoWriMo, Tara Lazar created PiBoIdMo as a 30-day challenge for picture book writers. The concept is to create 30 picture book ideas in 30 days. You don’t have to write a manuscript. You don’t need potential best-seller ideas.

You might think of a clever title. Or a name for a character. Or just a silly thing like “purple polka-dot pony.” The object is to heighten your picture-book-idea-generating senses. Ideas may build upon other ideas and your list of potential stories will grow stronger as the days pass. By the end of the month, you’ll have a file of ideas to help inspire you throughout the year.
.
Picture Book Idea Month, or PiBoIdMo 2011, will be underway in November, with official sign-up beginning the last week in October. You must sign up for PiBoIdMo in order to qualify for prizes! Watch for information on Tara’s blog Writing for Kids While Raising Them (http://taralazar.wordpress.com/). I’ll also be posting addition information on Picture This! as it becomes available.
